This time last week we were at the airport in Atlanta waiting for our flight Istanbul for a layover, and then to Nairobi, Kenya. Two full days of travel to get to Kenya on Wednesday. We spent last Wednesday and Thursday doing cultural training about anything and anything Kenya as well as walking alongside Muslims. It was a lot of information to take in, but it was definitely needed, and helped us prepare for the next 40ish days. Then on Friday morning we too a 7 hour train ride from Nairobi to Kisauni which is a smaller village north of Mombasa. Friday night we arrived at the Dream Center, which is where were we will be living and serving. We will also be serving at the Dream Academy which is a pre-k through 9th grade school that is connected with the Dream Center. We are extremely lucky because our team is staying at a place that has running water, toilets, and electricity. We have teams elsewhere that have none of those amenities.

Saturday is the biggest day of the week at the Dream Center because they serve 500+ kids. First, we start with worship, then a Bible study, then play games, and after that we feed each kid a meal. Each week 1/4 of the kids get maize flour to bring home for food during the week. It is beautiful, and heartbreaking to witness it all. The kids come and are completely in love with Jesus, singing about His goodness, yet they have nothing. At the same time many of the kids only eat 3-4 times per week, and so this meal and the food they get to bring home is a big deal. But it is amazing because we get to see how the Lord is working, changing the lives of the kids, and filling their stomachs.

Today was our first full day at the school (Dream Academy). I did a bunch of different things. I helped make and serve lunch for the kids, I haled in the classroom with english, reading, spelling, writing, and some math, as well as tutoring kids in the library. On top of this we played soccer two times. So it was a very full day as we were there from 7:45am-5pm. It was awesome to meet so many kids, and be able to help in a bunch of ways.

The Dream Center holds different events each night of the week, so we will also be involved with those things as they happen, and as we are needed.

We have had interactions with the homeless, cripple, and beggar. I am learning to love well in these situation, pray for them, and give to them in the best way possible. These situations can get intense, and so learning to love like Jesus to these people is something I am growing in.

We have a full week a head of us, and one that will be filled with the grace and love of Jesus.
